What Calm Pomodoro does today, what it doesn’t do, and where to write.
Updated
Coming soon to iPhone
Calm Pomodoro isn’t on the App Store yet. Leave your email address at the bottom of the home page: you’ll get a single message, on launch day.
What the app does
In Settings, you choose a rhythm, Pomodoro 25 / 5, 52 / 17 or Deep work 90 / 20, then tap Start. The water level shows the time remaining. When the focus ends, the break starts on its own, and after four focus sessions it becomes a long break. The next focus always waits for you.
Pause freezes the time, Resume starts it again, and tapping the glass does the same.
Above the glass, you can write an intention. In Settings, you choose one of the five colors, in light or dark mode or matching your iPhone, and an End sound: Droplet, Soft bell, Chime or Wood note, or No sound.
Outside the app
If you allow notifications, an alert lets you know when the focus ends, then when the break ends, even with your phone locked. Without them, the timer keeps running, but nothing lets you know. The time remaining also appears on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island and in StandBy, depending on your iPhone and its iOS version.
Known limitations
- Calm Pomodoro is designed for iPhone, and no Android version has been announced.
- Durations come from the three rhythms; they can’t be set one by one.
- Nothing syncs between your devices: everything stays on your iPhone.
- The app doesn’t block other apps. Focus mode can silence their notifications, and Calm Pomodoro’s too if you don’t allow it.
- Outside the app, your iPhone decides when the Lock Screen switches from focus to break, sometimes with a delay, and the finished break may stay there until you come back.
